Start Live ChatThe Cigweld Comweld 308L (ER308L) Gas & TIG Filler Rod 2.4mm 5kg is engineered for welding low carbon stainless steels, particularly 300-series grades like 304 and 304L. Its low-carbon composition helps reduce the risk of intergranular corrosion, making it suitable for critical and corrosion-resistant applications such as pressure vessels and cryogenic systems.
This filler rod is compatible with both gas (oxy-acetylene) and TIG (GTAW) welding processes. When used in gas welding, the rod is applied to a molten weld pool rather than being directly melted by flame. For TIG use, it performs best with a DC negative (electrode negative) polarity and a clean argon shielding gas.
Key Features & Benefits:
Low-carbon stainless rod matching AS1167.2 R308L / AWS A5.9 ER308L standards
Excellent corrosion resistance, especially for 304/304L applications
High tensile and proof stress: ~600 MPa tensile, ~450 MPa proof stress in weld deposit
Stable austenitic microstructure with 5–8% ferrite in weld metal
Temperature range: suitable for normal and cryogenic stainless steel service
Packaged in a resealable 5kg plastic tube to protect rods from contamination
Typical Rod Analysis:
C: 0.015% | Mn: 1.90% | Si: 0.50% | Cr: 19.90% | Ni: 9.75% | P: 0.020% | S: 0.005%
Weld Deposit Properties:
Proof Stress: 450 MPa
Tensile Strength: 600 MPa
Melting Point: ~1400°C
Microstructure: Austenite + 5–8% ferrite
Density: ~7.95 g/cm
